ASUS Xtreme Global Summit

Wednesday, September 30th, 2009

At the end of August I was lucky enough to be a winner of a competition held by Bit-Tech, CustomPC & ASUS which gave me… an exclusive chance to speak to head engineers of ASUS’ R.o.G division as well as get my hands on some pre-release, post production Lynnfield CPUs and ASUS motherboards. It was a fucking geek fest, obviously yours truly was the coolest one there, everyone else came across as either insanely arrogant or just rudely shy.

That aside, it was a pretty damn good event where I got to fuck about with OC’ing (at the time) an unreleased 1156 socket i7 CPU on a pre-production Maximus III Genie – had this nifty feature which allows you to connect a computer to your computer and overclock it as well debug it in a friendly, understandable manner independently. What that means is, if your pooter locks up, crashes – whatever! The other pooter you have plugged in can tell you what caused it, and instead of messing within the BIOS of your main pooter, you can use the other one running the ASUS software. Very cool indeed!

So, with the rude, mannerless jerk-offs aside, I managed to tag along to the pub with the editor of Custom PC magazine, Alex Waston & managed to meet some of the reviewers from the mag (Clive Webster & Mark Mackay) freaking great lads, absolutely brilliant people – mainly because they kept my supply of booze up. Saying that though, I did have some fantastic conversations with them, obviously about nerdy shit but also about other frivolous BS that they were only probably interested in due to the alcohol consumption.

Eitherway, check me out in the fucking video! Oh yeah and I won an 1GB ASUS Matrix GTX285 graphics card.
